| Product :::Server and Dynamic User Interface Dynamic, pattern driven engineEA WebModeler Server is a self-contained engine supporting session logic, business logic, user interface generation, meta and instance level object handling, data access, transactions, and event handling. The Server supports several key capabilities summarized below. Calculated properties allow user defined derivation of values in a manner similar to how calculations are used in a spreadsheet. The difference is that calculations in EA WebModeler may reference properties on the current item, related items, or named items in the repository. A powerful, full Object Oriented language is available to express desired rules. Recursive calculations are supported, allowing sophisticated algorithms with minimal programming. Pattern driven user interfaces achieve unsurpassed flexibility by the application of patterns at run-time versus design time as is common in advanced projects today. Business Logic patterns and Interface patterns are applied at runtime using live meta data. The interface code (HTML, JavaScript(ECMA)) is shipped to the client for rendering/execution. Custom Views allow user defined user interfaces. These can be designed entirely to support the needs of the customer organization. A high level API allows easy incorporation of repository content in the generated interface, and access to update capabilities (subject to security constraints). Custom views can be added at runtime and linked to user menu structures with ease. Dynamic behavior is achieved through the monitoring of events and designating appropriate responses. Creation, editing, deletion, linking of items and various other events of interest can be monitored. Desired actions can be specified. These can be selected from built in capabilities (e.g. send e-mail, create an item, index...) or can be user specified code using a high level API. The meta model can be extended: Types, properties and relationships can be extended. Once the model is done, user interfaces to capture, edit, review, analyze and report on the structures are automatically generated as required. Meta model extensions can thus be achieved in a matter of minutes, on the fly, without interrupting production. "Releasing" new capabilities is controlled by security permissions, rather than a lengthy design, develop, test, and install cycle.
