Change/Impact
Analysis |
 |
|
Need to know which stake-holders would be affected by a
delay in the deployment of a business service, or which applications
are impacted by an server consolidation ?The Cross-Reference Browser
is an example of the type of analysis capability provided within
EA WebModeler. This browser allows you to view and ad-hoc matrix
between different artifacts (or with the same artifacts on both
axes) where all relationships, or selected relationships between
the types, will be shown within the body of the matrix. You can
also query any of the items displayed as headings on the horizontal
or vertical axis. Contents of cells allow you to see relationships,
info node details, and to create new relationships. The cross
reference browser provides ability to query inferred relationships.
This is where items are related indirectly through two or more
other relationships. An example: An Business Unit is supported
by a Business Service. A Business Service is implemented by a
Platform. A Platform is hosted on a Server. The Cross-Reference
browser is able to infer those Business Units could be impacted
by the change to a Server.

Scenario/Multi
Architecture Gap Analysis |
 |
|
Virtually
every phase of the TOGAF (an open enterprise architecture framework
spun-off from TAFIM, an earlier DoD EA effort) includes generation
of a “Gap Analysis Matrix”. The TOGAF Gap Analysis
Matrix describes gaps between two architectures. EA WebModeler
extends this ability by enabling management of n architecture
scenarios and gap analysis. The Graphical Browser (left) provides
a mechanism to visualize architecture scenarios and their gaps.
Used in conjunction with the Composite View Browser which provides
detailed scenario documentation, EA WebModeler provides a powerful
platform for understanding the current state of the enterprise,
possible transformations, and a mechanism to manage a selected
transformation path.
